WAUCONDA... THREE RED LIGHT CAMERAS
Camera 1 - Main and 176, Camera 2 176 &12, Camera 3 Bonner and 12. Drivers Take Note.
For those of you whom drive..., Please take note... Wauconda now has Three "Red Light" Cameras. One at the corner of Main Street and 176(Liberty), a second just west of the Route 12 overpass and 176, also a third just north of town at the intersection of Route 12 and Bonner road.
In an attempt to further control and finacially account for lawbreaking drivers, the cameras were approved by the State of Illinois. The Village must under go some ridged regulations in order to place the cameras at the intersections. One driver at the corner of Main and 176 said " I am never making another right on red... Please underline NEVER for me"! Another driver just minutes later... " I am afraid to continue with the standard flow of traffic, as I am unsure when tickets are issued.. I mean... What if I am in the middle of the intersection and the damn light turns red... Then what"?
It seems that there still remains to be much eduacation needed as to how to work with the cameras as a licensed driver. In an attempt to understand the validity of the cameras many studies have been conducted, some have said it makes the road a safer place. Some suggest that the cameras make no difference.
What we do know is that within the Village of Wauconda the cameras have caught violaters... and letters of finacial complience have been issued... and though it appears, for now, the violations are not recorded on your license... But you are expected to pay the fines. You are warned. :)
