Rowe Vows Repeal of Tax Hike – Will Fight For Small Businesses & Their Employees
One year ago today, the Democrats in Springfield imposed a record tax increase on the people of Illinois in the middle of the night. While the Democrats may want people to forget, Danielle Rowe, Republican Candidate for State Representative in the 52nd District, will not. “We need to repeal the dishonest, job-killing, tax increase passed by the Democrats last January. My top priority is more jobs for our district. You do that by restoring a business climate that respects job creators, both those who have a small business and those who want to start a new business and bring jobs to our community,” Rowe said.
“At a minimum, the tax increase needs to sunset as the Democrats promised on passage. We need leaders in Springfield who will tell people the truth,” Rowe said. Illinois has lost 61,000 jobs since the passage of the tax increase according to the Illinois Policy Institute.
“I would repeal the 46% corporate tax increase currently in effect until 2015. Our high corporate income tax rate is one of the reasons Illinois is uncompetitive with our neighbors when it comes to capitol formation and job creation. The high tax burden is one of the reasons Illinois was tied with New Jersey last year for greatest out-migration of any state,” Rowe said. Most small business owners would like to forget the tax increase but can’t because they have to live with the affects every day. Jim Purcell is a small business owner who runs a pizza restaurant in Cary. The tax increase is hurting his business from all directions.
Purcell said, “The tax increase hurts the small business guy while the big guys stay fat. The politicians need to clean up their own house first before they impose on the people. They need to cut the fat.” Purcell has faced higher income taxes, higher corporate taxes, higher unemployment compensation taxes, higher labor costs, higher costs for materials, and when he was forced to raise the price of his pizzas, his customers complained. Large corporations with high level political connections and high paid lobbyists will continue to receive incentives to stay in Illinois while more of the tax burden falls on small businesses. We need leaders who will represent the interests of small business owners and their employees.
“As a life long resident of the 52nd District, I will be a hyper-responsive, hyper-engaged legislator advancing the interests of my community in accordance with my common sense conservative views against those in Springfield focused on protecting a status quo that serves them at the expense of working families in our community,” Rowe promised.
When asked how he believes Danielle Rowe will represent him in Springfield, Purcell replied, “She’s young, she’s real sharp, she had good answers to my questions. I hope she can make a difference. We need someone who’s independent and won’t become corrupted by the rest of the group of politicians there. I lead a girls varsity hockey team. Those girls have fight and spunk and we need some more of that in Springfield.”
